History of Jama Masjid

During this era, there was a deal between the emperor of Ladakh Deldan Namgyal and the Mughal Ruler Aurangzeb. They reached into a decision, that Mughals will provide protection to the Kings of Ladakh without any exchange of money. Jama Masjid was built by the Mughals in Ladakh as a token or seal of this deal. Since then Jama Masjid stands upright in the main city of Leh. This masjid was built in memory of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani, a Muslim Sufi Saint.
