History of Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery
In Buddhism religion the meaning of “Karma” means the activities that one performs in his entire lifetime or to be precise the Buddhist-activities. It is considered there are seventeen Karmapa Lamas of the Karma Sect in Buddhism tradition. In the year 1967, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa arrived in Ladakh and decided the place for Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery. Afterwards he passed on this piece of information to Ven.Choeje Cheme Rinpoche the 17th and the last Gyalwa Karmapa. And later the construction work of this Monastery was done and completed in the year 1973 by this last Karmapa.This monastery came into existence in the year 1973 and is the famous monastery that is run by the Buddhist of Karma Sect and hence the monastery is named after them. Visitors and other Buddhist disciples visit this monastery in order to understand the teachings of Karma. This monastery tries to protect the Buddhist tradition and plays an important role in promoting Buddhism culture. It is compulsory for the monks residing in this monastery to learn modern education systematically. They also need to study about the Buddhist religion and culture thoroughly. There is a school attached to this monastery which came into existence since 1997. The school is provided with teachers who teach the students nothing but modern education. There are three class rooms in the school and some permanent teachers. At the present age, there are 40 monk students admitted in the school. The school not only teaches modern education to students but also teach students how to play different musical instruments.

This is a good option that people can opt for but the only problem with this road is that this road is not open throughout the year. During the winter season due to snow this road remains closed.
